Vienna Belvedere

Prague & Vienna

Embark on a journey into these two contrasting cities that perfectly offer the yin and yang of European city breaks. Take in the vibrant, youthful metropolis of Prague, then venture on to the mature, beautiful centre of Vienna, where you can bask in its rich architecture and enchanting cuisine.

Our Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Prague

The wait is finally over - we hope you're ready for an unforgettable adventure! After a flight into Vaclav Havel Airport, take our recommended airport transfer into the centre of Prague and head to the accommodation for a quick freshen up. Once you’re ready, it’s time to head for the fairytale ‘Old Town Square’. Here, you’ll be absorbed by the intricacy of Prague’s Astronomical clock and the beauty of the surrounding gothic architecture. With an afternoon’s sightseeing complete, head out for some traditional Czech cuisine - we’d recommend the pork knuckle - accompanied by some local beers.

Day 2 - Prague from above

Now that you've settled into your new surroundings, it's time to appreciate the city from above! You'll start your morning making your way towards Petrin Tower, a 50-metre Eiffel-inspired structure offering panoramic views of the Czech capital. En route to the tower, we'd recommend stopping by the iconic Charles Bridge and the Old Town's tower, which overlooks the Vltava river. Petrin is best reached by public transport followed by a leisurely stroll, during which you'll enjoy some breathtaking views. Climb the stairs to reach the summit of Petrin Tower and make sure to grab a photo from the Pinnacle of Prague.

Spend your afternoon by the shops in the Jewish Quarter, and make sure to stop for a 'Chimney Cake' - these are conical cakes filled with cream or ice cream, and are a Czech speciality! Before the sun goes down, we'd recommend you head up to Letna Park; here, you'll find street food and bars on a hillside overlooking the river, which we rate the best place in Prague to watch the sunset!

Day 3 - The Castle

Make the most of your last full day in Prague with a journey up to Prague Castle, officially the largest castle complex in the world. Here, you can either explore the historic monument and impressive St Vitus Cathedral on your own, or enjoy a guided tour to make sure you don’t miss a thing! Not far from the castle, there are plenty of locations where you can enjoy a flavoured lemonade or a spot of lunch. After lunch, make a small detour to one of Prague’s lesser-known spots; the Lennon Wall. Dedicated to Beatles icon John Lennon, this wall represents peace in a region that suffered oppression in the 20th century, and is situated just a short bike ride away from the castle. In the evening, head out into the Old Town and enjoy all that Prague’s nightlife has to offer.

Day 4 - Vienna, here we come!

Day 4 will see you catch the AM train for a scenic ride across some luscious Central European landscapes. Arrive in Vienna for early afternoon and take the Austrian capital's excellent public transport into the heart of the city. Settle into your accommodation before heading out into the architectural marvel of Vienna's 'Innere Stadt'. St Stephen's Cathedral is a must, and if you're feeling adventurous, make the trip up the 'Stephansdom' tower for a stunning view of the city. Relax in the evening with schnitzel and potato salad, accompanied by some local beer and wine, ready to see what the next day has in store for you.

Day 5 - City Sightseeing

Start your day with a lovely pastry and coffee from one of our recommendations before heading off on a sightseeing tour of some architectural wonders. The first stop will be St Charles’ Church - its impressive baroque interior will leave you stunned, while heading up into the dome will offer unparalleled views of the city. Following the church, we’ll move onto the Kunsthistorisches Museum, a sensational art hotspot with a palatial vibe and set within some exquisite grounds. Head to a nearby café for some famous Sacher Torte (Viennese chocolate cake) before we move on over to arguably the highlight of the trip, Schönbrunn Palace. The former Habsburg residence has the most beautiful grounds in the whole of Vienna, so make sure to explore these and become enchanted by its majesty. Top traveller tip: Head up the hill with a picnic just before sunset to experience a breathtaking view while enjoying romantic nibbles at Vienna's summit!

Day 6 - Return home

After your 5-night trip to two of Europe’s most historic capitals, it’s time to pack your bags and enjoy a hearty breakfast before catching the train to the airport and taking the flight home, bringing back memories that will last a lifetime.
