Introduction to CityScoop

This section will cover the introduction to CityScoop Travel and any questions you may have about how we work. If you want to read more about who we are and our story, visit the 'ABOUT US' section at the top of the page!

What is CityScoop Travel?

CityScoop Travel is a new travel agency/tour operator specialising in European city breaks for small groups, generally between the size of 1 and 6 people per trip. We look to make city breaks simple for people by doing the legwork; sourcing the cheapest flights, accommodation, as well as any excursions, to save you the trouble!

How does CityScoop work?

As mentioned above, we look to make city breaks as simple as possible, and offer three different services depending on what exactly you're after for your trip. To keep things easy, these services are all rooted in our questionnaire, which takes no more than 5 minutes to complete. From the answers you give us, we will direct you to the service that best corresponds to your needs. Once you have completed our survey and given us your contact details, our team will get to work in creating and costing your European city break and come back to you with the "Scoop" within 12 hours (maximum) of your enquiry. You will get this information in the form of an e-document with the proposed travel dates, location and itinerary, hand-crafted by us along with a price. Then it's simply over to you on whether you want to take us up on your adventure.

What are the different services you offer?

We offer 3 main services - BudgetScoop, PremiumScoop and MysteryScoop - each differing slightly in what they provide.

BudgetScoop hooks you up with wallet-friendly flights, cosy accommodation and an airport transfer (where possible) leaving you to discover the wonders of your chosen destination.

PremiumScoop provides you with the same basic BudgetScoop package but additionally hooks you up with an itinerary hand-crafted to your taste. This will be packaged up in an informative e-brochure, detailing Day 1, Day 2 etc., along with several restaurants and bars we've touted as 'hidden gems' - we can even arrange reservations for these if you'd like!

Last but not least, our MysteryScoop package sends you on an unrivaled adventure into the unknown! Take our survey and we will conjure up a personalised itinerary for you (or a more simplistic booking package if preferred), to a new destination chosen by us, working from the answers you've given. We'll include our suggested location(s) in your proposal too, so if you're not happy with what we propose, we can look into alternatives until we find your perfect location.

What do we mean by 'Scoop'?

We like to be a bit different at CityScoop, as we see our proposal to you as not only a great deal in terms of price, but also information. We want to provide you with all the best local knowledge for you to be able to make the most of your break!

BudgetScoop

This section will cover any common queries about our BudgetScoop service and how it works. For more information, feel free to get in touch with us!

What is BudgetScoop?

BudgetScoop is our basic package. This is the quickest and most simple service to get you on your way. It simply sends you to your chosen destination with a package including flights, accommodation and an airport transfer (where possible).

Do I get information about my location with BudgetScoop?

Our informative e-brochures only come with our MysteryScoop and our PremiumScoop packages; although, once your BudgetScoop request has gone through, you will be presented with the opportunity to upgrade to our PremiumScoop service and see how that could add to your proposed trip!

Can I change my mind if I decide I would like to have an itinerary included?

Of course you can! If you answer our questions requesting the simple BudgetScoop package, but later decide you would like more, there will be an option to upgrade to PremiumScoop. There will also be an opportunity to upgrade when you recieve your personalised Scoop. If you have passed the point of payment already, it will unfortunately be too late to upgrade to our PremiumScoop service.

PremiumScoop

This section will cover any basic questions you may have regarding our PremiumScoop service and how this differs from our BudgetScoop service.

What is PremiumScoop?

PremiumScoop is our premium option. It includes all of the ingredients of our BudgetScoop service along with a hand-crafted itinerary, tailored to your preferences. This also comes with an informative e-brochure to take you through your trip, step-by-step, to ensure you get the most out of your chosen destination.

Included in our PremiumScoop package: Flights, accommodation, airport transfer (where possible), your itinerary, and your e-brochure (or "eScoop").

How detailed is my itinerary?

Quite frankly, your itinerary depends on you: you can make it as detailed or free-flowing as you would like. If you decide you would like to squeeze six tours and a wine tasting into three nights of non-stop cultural utopia, we can make that happen for you! If you would like to simply visit one of the major landmarks and take it easy for the rest of your trip, we can do that as well! Your itinerary really is whatever you want it to be and, of course, should you struggle deciding on what you want, one of our professional travel consultants will be more than happy to reach out and talk you through your location and preferences to see what works for you.

What does my e-brochure look like?

Your e-brochure is your guide to your location, tailored to your tastes and trip specifics. It will walk you through the best places to eat, as well as the trendiest - or the quieter - bars, depending on your preferences. We'll also suggest the best places to visit in relation to where you are staying, and how to get there. Your e-brochure will, like the rest of your trip, be customised by you, planned by us.

MysteryScoop

Here we cover any queries regarding our MysteryScoop service and your adventure into the unknown.

What is MysteryScoop?

​MysteryScoop is the enigma of our services; a "date with the unknown". After taking our short survey, rather than choosing your destination, we'll choose it for you.

How do you match me with my MysteryScoop?

​We match you to your mystery location by taking the answers you give us in your online survey and using that information to match you with a location you'll love! We will ask you about your preferred climate, setting, budget, and even what you are looking to get out of your trip, to match you with the perfect location.

When do I find out my mystery location?

Within 12 hours of receiving your enquiry, we aim to provide you with your own personalised eScoop containing the where, the when, the price, and an itinerary if you requested. Once you have received that and had a look at the location we're proposing, it's down to you to press go on your adventure!

​What if I don't like the location I have been matched with?

We are really confident you will love the location we match you with, as we consistently put a lot of time and effort into making sure it's the best match for your preferences. That being said, we understand that everyone is different, and if you don't like our offer, that's fine too! You can leave the quote, or on request we will work to propose another location until we find that trip that works for you!

Can I have a itinerary on my MysteryScoop?

​Absolutely! When you take our survey and decide on a venture into the unknown, we will ask you if you are wanting us to draft up your itinerary too. We can provide our MysteryScoop service with or without an itinerary depending on your preferences; after all - this is YOUR trip!

Pricing and Payment

This section covers the basic Q&As regarding pricing and our payment process, so you can purchase your CityScoop with confidence.

​Do CityScoop charge a fee for their services?

We believe in wallet-friendly trips and making the world accessible to everyone, and therefore we make sure our pricing includes as much as possible for your money. Our packages generally include your customised city break (consisting of flights, accommodation and airport transfer, where possible) and, if requested, any additional trips and a personalised itinerary including tours and must-try bars and cafes. We also offer ATOL protection to anyone travelling by air outside of the UK, as well as support via email or WhatsApp. We also work around the clock to bring you the lowest possible prices on all of the above, so we'd say we're more than worth your investment!

While we do strive to offer you the best product for your money, we do build in a small service fee to the pricing to cover business costs and the time that goes into crafting your perfect city break.

How much does a CityScoop city break cost?

Your city break will vary depending on your preferences: effectively, the more experiences you would like to include, or the more exclusive the accommodation preference, the higher the charge. That being said, when you take our survey we will ask you to define a rough budget that you'd like to stay within, and we will do our best to stick to that and deliver you a price that works for you!

When do I need to pay for my CityScoop?

At the point of initial interest where you provide us your preferences and request the 'Scoop', we will not require any payment as we send over your personalised trip. Once you are sure you wish to proceed with booking your city break, we will then require you to pay the amount in full to confirm your booking unless advised otherwise. Once paid, you will receive a confirmation email with your trip details. Please note that you will also see a overview of your trip and what is included prior to payment, just so that you can make sure you are happy with what we're proposing before committing to any payment.

Can I make payment over the phone?

Currently, we can only take payment via the Stripe payment service on our website, though we plan to introduce other payment methods in the future.

Once I have paid, do I get to see a breakdown of my costings?

Due to the dynamic pricing structure used in travel services and ongoing relationships with private suppliers we are unable to provide a detailed breakdown of trip costings. Instead, we display the total figure and what is included in the offer.

What if things go wrong?

Should things go wrong whilst on your way to your destination, you can be confident we've got your back!

What happens if CityScoop Travel dissolve while I am away?

Don't worry, we're not going anywhere! However, please note that by law as a travel company we have to provide you with financial protection, so in the event that something were to happen to us, our customers would be able to get home without any issues and their money would be fully protected.

What if a natural disaster occurs prior to departure in my chosen destination?

In the event that a natural disaster occurs in your chosen destination, your trip may be cancelled subject to consumer safety. Please note that we would not be able to provide a refund in full as this would be classed as circumstances outside of our control (force majeure); however, we guarantee that we would work with our suppliers on your behalf to confirm whether any compensation would be possible. We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance when booking any trips.

Is there a risk of interruption due to ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East?

We actively monitor all conflict and military tensions across Europe to ensure we don't send you somewhere that could potentially be unsafe. Should any developments occur that affect your chosen destination, we will contact you immediately to discuss alternative arrangements and whether any payments can be refunded.

What if I miss my train/plane out?

​Unfortunately, there is not a great deal we can do if you miss your plane or train for travelling in or out of the UK. We will provide you with all details of travel dates, places and times for where you need to be, although please note that this is your responsibility, and if you fail to arrive in time we cannot be held accountable.

What if my flight is changed or cancelled?

Due to EU Regulation 261 (of 2004), should your flight be changed or cancelled you may be eligible for compensation, dependent on the circumstances under which your flight was altered.

Should your flight be changed or cancelled before you go away, you may be offered alternate flights from your airline and be eligible for compensation. If you are not offered alternative flights then we will intervene and try and accommodate you as best as we can. Please note, however, that you will be responsible for any excess costings regarding flights on the assumption that you are eligible to apply for compensation from the original airline. This will be the same case in the circumstance that your flight is cancelled while you are away. After paying any further charges, you should be able to claim back your expenses via the airline that has cancelled your flight.
